She grew up in New Jersey where she learned to haunt both the deep dark woods and the deep dark ocean. Those experiences have embedded in her storytelling, and all her characters tend to have shark teeth and tree roots in their veins. Now, she lives in Virginia with her wife and their two soot-sprite cats, Hades and Jupiter. 

Her debut novel, Blackblood, tackles themes of grief, redemption, and good-old-fashioned revenge.
